Cartref Oddi Cartref is a small, family-run residential care home in Llanelli, offering high-quality, person-centred care for adults aged 65 and over. Located near Sandy Water Park and the local coastline, our 10-bed home provides a calm, safe, and welcoming environment where residents are supported to live with dignity, comfort, and independence.

🌱 Our Story

Cartref Oddi Cartref was founded by a mother-and-daughter team who shared a deep belief that care for older people can and should be better.

Bethan Morgan’s motivation is rooted in personal experience. Her father resides in a large care home with over 100 residents, where the scale of the service made it difficult for truly person-centred care to be delivered. She witnessed first-hand how basic needs were often missed, hygiene standards were inconsistent, staff appeared overstretched, and care lacked the individuality and attention her father deserved. Frequent infections and a lack of meaningful engagement highlighted the impact that under-resourced, impersonal care environments can have on wellbeing.

Candy Davies, a registered nurse, has worked across multiple care settings throughout her career. Despite her commitment to improving standards and implementing positive change, she often found that large organisational structures limited the ability to make meaningful, lasting improvements at a resident level.

Together, Bethan and Candy came to the same conclusion: there had to be a better way. They believed real change could only be achieved by creating a home where care is genuinely person-centred, staff are supported and valued, and residents are never treated as numbers. Cartref Oddi Cartref was created to reflect that belief, a small, well-led home where high standards, dignity, and compassion are embedded into everyday practice.

🛡️ Strong Leadership You Can Trust

The home is led day-to-day by an experienced Registered Manager with over 25 years in the care sector and more than 20 years managing residential services. He brings extensive experience in leading compliant services, supporting complex needs, and working closely with CIW, safeguarding teams, and healthcare professionals. This strong leadership ensures our care is safe, well-governed, and consistently delivered to a high standard.

We provide individualised care and support plans tailored to each resident’s needs, preferences, and life history. Plans are developed with residents and their families and reviewed regularly to ensure care remains responsive and effective. We promote independence wherever possible while ensuring appropriate support is always available.

🏠 Our Home

Our home offers 10 comfortable, fully furnished bedrooms, each with an ensuite wet room and modern amenities including a TV, writing desk, and mini fridge. Communal areas are designed to be safe, accessible, and welcoming, encouraging both privacy and social connection.

Our staff are carefully recruited, trained, and supported to deliver compassionate, respectful care. We invest in our team through ongoing training, supervision, and strong leadership, ensuring residents receive consistent and reliable support from people who genuinely care.

Cartref Oddi Cartref means “Home from Home” in Welsh, and this reflects how we care for every resident. We work in partnership with families, value open communication, and focus on creating a place where people feel safe, valued, and truly at home.
